We have been looking for creative ways for neighbors to safely get out and participate in events this Summer. One of the ideas WSN is excited to share is our first Art Walk/Fundraiser, on Friday July 24th, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. (Rain date is Saturday July 25th)
We are looking for neighbors who would like to create an original piece of art for this fun event. All pieces of art will be on display in the Artists’ front yards throughout the neighborhood the night of the Art Walk. Neighbors will bid on the pieces, with the artwork going to the highest bidder. Half of the proceeds will go to the Artist and half to support the work of WSN.
Art pieces can be in any medium, and all ages, and skill levels welcome.
For more details and to sign up, email Lisa at : [email protected] She will drop off a bid sheet to be displayed the night of the walk that can include a minimum starting bid. After the event Lisa will collect all the bid sheets and schedule the exchange of the art piece for the payments. Also, we do not want cost to stop anyone from participating, so if you would like a free canvas dropped off to your home, please contact Lisa for that as well.
All neighbors can check in the night of the event at the WSN gathering space at West 10th and Maple, to get a map and list of participating Artists. We have even asked some familiar local Artists to be a part of this event, showing their work at ‘host homes’.
This event will be hosted following all recommended guidelines, with social distancing expected and hand sanitizer available at every home. We also encourage those who wish to bid on the Art pieces, to bring your own pen or pencil for the bids. This has been a tough transition for all of us, but we hope to find ways to safely engage neighbors and continue building relationships.
Here is a sampling of some of the artwork that will be featured in Friday’s Art Walk:
