Washington School Neighbors would like to keep you updated on the events and meetings that we have planned for the month of March. One of the ways that we seek to connect and engage neighbors is through our events and meetings that allow those interested to become more invested in our community.
In keeping with our current situation regarding COVID-19 concerns, we are cancelling all events/meetings that have been scheduled for the months of March and April. This decision was made based on the recommended guidelines set forth by Governor Whitmer and Health Department officials. Our Spring newsletter that was delivered just this week mentioned a letter-writing event that was to take place on March 24th. This event was based on neighbor concerns about being able to safely cross Van Raalte to and from Kollen Park. Although the event is cancelled at this time, if you would still like to write a letter expressing your concerns or suggestions for how to best address this issue, please email your letters to: [email protected] and they will be dropped off to city officials as soon as we are able.
Our March 26 and April 23rd board meetings will be conducted online, and our March 31 and April 28th block-connector meetings are cancelled. Lisa will stay in touch with block connectors via email, and provide them with any important information to be communicated to neighbors.
During these next several weeks, we encourage you all to please support neighbors who are the most vulnerable during this time. It is in working together that we create a stronger community. There are opportunities to volunteer with meal distribution through our partner Hope Church: on the https://hopechurchrca.org website, click on the GROUPS > Volunteer Opportunities menu item (or click the direct link here).
If you know of any specific neighbor needs, please email Lisa, and we will make every effort to find help and resources.
Thank you for being great neighbors.
Stay safe and stay healthy!
